What the filter kit protects against
The filter set consists of 2 filters with different efficiency classes:
- Exhaust filter - G4 (rough 60%) - for MVHR protection
- Supply air filter - F7 (ePM1 50%) - for indoor air protection
This filter set complies with the ISO 16890 standard for particle filtration efficiency.
The G4 filter traps up to 60% of coarse airborne particles larger than 10% microns, such as soil particles, large pollen grains, plant debris, insect wings, sawdust, sand and textile fibres. It is designed to clean the exhaust air from the room, helping to reduce visible dust and overall dust accumulation in the ventilation system. This reduces energy consumption, keeps the unit running quietly and extends the life of your system.
The F7 filter traps around 50% of very fine particles down to 1 micron, including bacteria, smog, tobacco smoke particles, combustion dust, spores and forest fire smoke particles. It helps to purify incoming outdoor air before it enters your home, improving indoor air quality and protecting your health.
Use and maintenance
Zehnder recommends replacing the filters every 6 months to ensure optimal air quality and system performance.
However, the frequency of changes may vary depending on the following factors:
- Air pollution levels (e.g. urban and rural areas).
- Allergy or sensitivity to respiratory tract
- Keeping pets indoors or smoking
- Dust from nearby construction sites
If your system has a filter change indicator, follow its warnings. Otherwise, visually check the filters - if they look very dirty or clogged, it's time to replace them.

The filters are manufactured using Z-Pleat technology, which significantly increases the surface area of the filter by folding the material into multiple pleats.
