What filter set protects against
Filter set includes 2 filters:
- Extract filter – G4 (Coarse 70%) – for MVHR protection
- Supply filter – G4 (Coarse 70%) – for indoor air protection
This filter set follows the ISO 16890 standard for particle filtration efficiency.
The G4 filters capture up to 70% of coarse airborne particles that are larger than 10 microns, such as soil particles, large pollen grains, plant debris, insect wings, sawdust, sand and textile lint. One of them filters the air extracted from your indoor space and protects the MVHR unit; while the other cleans the outdoor air supplied into your premises, improving indoor air quality and protecting your health. This helps reduce visible dust, lowers energy consumption, keeps the system running quietly, and extends its lifespan.
Usage and maintenance
Paul recommends replacing the filters every 6 months, to ensure optimal air quality and system performance.
However, replacement frequency may vary depending on factors such as:
- Air pollution levels (e.g. urban vs rural areas)
- Allergies or respiratory sensitivities
- Indoor pets or smoking
- Dust from nearby construction sites
If your system includes a filter change indicator, follow its alerts. Otherwise, check the filters visually – if they appear very dirty or clogged, it's time to replace them.

Filter Replacement Instructions for Paul ISO Defroster DN 160 filter:
- Turn off the ventilation system: Before opening the unit, make sure your MVHR system is switched off to avoid airflow or pressure changes during the replacement.
- Locate the ISO Defroster: The ISO Defroster DN 160 is usually positioned on the fresh air intake duct before the main ventilation unit.
- Open the cover: Gently remove the top cover of the defroster. It’s designed for easy access – no tools required.
- Remove the old filters: Inside, you’ll find two G4 filters. Carefully slide them out, avoiding dislodging any dust or debris that may have collected on them.
- Clean the inside (optional): Use a damp cloth or vacuum with a brush attachment to remove any dust buildup inside the housing. This helps maintain airflow and hygiene.
- Insert the new G4 filters: Slide the two new G4 filters into the same slots. Make sure they’re positioned flat and properly aligned with the airflow direction indicated on the filter.
- Close the cover: Reattach the cover securely to ensure an airtight fit.
- Turn the system back on: Restart your ventilation unit and check that airflow is normal. Some systems may require you to reset a filter change alert.
