Two filters are sufficient for regular Blauberg use
Initially, Blauberg MVHR units have three filters installed. The third filter is added temporarily during or shortly after construction to protect the main supply filter from construction dust and debris. It is intended to be removed once construction is complete and you move into the premises.
After that, the system is designed to operate efficiently with two filters: one for the extract air (stale indoor air going out) and one for the supply air (fresh air coming in). Using more than two filters during regular operation is unnecessary. So when replacing the filters, only the two main filters need to be changed.
What filter set protects against
Filter set includes 2 filters of different efficiency classes:
- Extract filter – G4 (Coarse 80%) – for MVHR protection
- Supply filter – F7 (ePM1 70%) – for indoor air protection
This filter set follows the ISO 16890 standard for particle filtration efficiency.
The G4 filter captures up to 80% of coarse airborne particles that are larger than 10 microns, such as soil particles, large pollen grains, plant debris, insect wings, sawdust, sand and textile lint. It's designed to clean the air extracted from your indoor space, helping to reduce visible dust and general build-up in the ventilation system. This lowers energy consumption, keeps the unit quiet, and extends your system’s lifespan.
The F7 filter captures around 70% of very fine particles as small as 1 micron, including bacteria, smog, tobacco smoke particles, combustion dust, spores, and wildfire smoke particles. It helps clean incoming outdoor air before it enters your premises, improving indoor air quality and protecting your health.
Usage and maintenance
Blauberg recommends replacing the filters every 6 months, to ensure optimal air quality and system performance.
However, replacement frequency may vary depending on factors such as:
- Air pollution levels (e.g. urban vs rural areas)
- Allergies or respiratory sensitivities
- Indoor pets or smoking
- Dust from nearby construction sites
Vacuum cleaning is allowed. After two consecutive cleanings filters must be replaced.
If your system includes a filter change indicator, follow its alerts. Otherwise, check the filters visually – if they appear very dirty or clogged, it's time to replace them.
Manufacturing quality
This filter set is part of our carefully developed house brand, manufactured in the European Union by our trusted partners who meet our strict quality standards. We work closely with each production partner and perform our own quality control checks to ensure every filter delivers reliable performance and consistent quality.
The G4 panel filter on the extract side is made using Z-line technology, featuring folded filter media mounted in a cardboard frame. Such design increases the filtration surface area, improves particle retention, ensures a more uniform airflow distribution, and maintains a low pressure drop.
The F7 compact filter on the supply side is made using Minipleat technology, a dense pleating method where the filter media is tightly folded and bonded with glue. This glue fixation keeps the pleats evenly spaced and stable, ensuring consistent filtration across the entire surface. Compared to standard pleat types, this design offers a larger effective filtration area, more uniform airflow distribution, improved particle capture, and a lower pressure drop.
